November 9, 2009 will mark as the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. At the end of World War II, Germany was separated into the democratic West Germany, and the communist controlled East Germany. The Berlin Wall was created in 1961 by the communists in East Germany & the then Soviet Union in order to control & prevent the East German people from escaping to democratic West Germany. (Many East Germans were killed by communist guards while trying to escape this infamous wall from 1961 to 1989.) Germany was finally reunited in 1989 when the communist government finally collapsed and the Berlin Wall was torn down.

The empire strikes back

In recent weeks, we've taken huge steps towards blocking spam accounts on LiveJournal. In fact, we've suspended as many as 30,000 accounts in a single day! We've implemented several pre-emptive measures to prevent the creation of spam accounts, and we've honed our detection of suspicious content. Spam bots are a crafty lot, so we'll continue to refine our tactics and keep up the good fight to keep you safe from spam attacks on LiveJournal.

RSS feeds again

If you're addicted to xkcd_rss, icanhaschzbrgr, or other syndicated feeds, we're pleased to report that we've resolved the update error that was mucking up your RSS feeds. While content was being pulled correctly, it wasn't being posted to the feeds themselves. Late last week, we finally nailed down what we hope was the root problem, so content should post properly. We thank you for your patience.

Now this is interesting news...If you live and work in California, the politicians in California now wants to deduct an extra 10% from your paychecks.

Sacramento demands a loan from taxpayers.

Desperation grabs for revenue are nothing new in politics, but California is once again leading the way in creative financing.

To help close yet another gaping budget deficit, now estimated to be $7 billion this year and reach as high as $20 billion next, Sacramento lawmakers have authorized a 10% increase in the amount of taxes withheld from worker paychecks starting November 1 and through 2010. The extra withholding tax will reduce Californians' take-home pay by about $1.7 billion for the year. But the lawmakers say this isn't a tax increase. OK, how about calling it a compulsory interest-free loan from taxpayers to the state?

According to the Franchise Tax Board, 10,004,000 Californians overpaid their state taxes last year and received an average refund of $903. The withholding penalty is expected to snatch between $20 and $90 a month from middle-class families. For those feeling the pinch of recession and living paycheck to paycheck, that penalty will hurt.

Of course, the government is obliged to return this money next spring when workers get their tax refunds, so this is the ultimate budget gimmick. It borrows from taxpayers now and deepens the budget hole next year. And we almost hate to ask: What happens come April if the state doesn't have enough money to pay the tax refunds it owes its citizens? Will taxpayers get IOUs the way state contractors did last year when Sacramento ran out of money?"

NOV 1ST was Hello Kitty's Birthday and what better way to celebrate than to go to the very exclusive THREE APPLES EXHIBIT at Royal/T in LA! The exhibit will only last for three weeks. Of course if I was in Tokyo I would be celebrating her BDAY at Puroland. ;p

But I was very happy to know that this exhibit and cafe celebrating Hello Kitty's 35TH Anniversary was close to home. And was having some fun events planned for her birthday!

By the way this was my third time going to the exhibit! Lol! I also went to Super Fan Day and Halloween!

Normally, I'm not a big sports fan of the UFC, (Ultimate Fighting Championship) but I have to give this guy credit for trying so hard to fulfill his dreams, even if it meant being in the poorhouse, and starving.

That was good enough for $120,000. Good thing, Barry needed the infusion of cash in the worst way. He confirmed to MMAScrapsRadio that he was completely down on his luck before the fight, agreeing that he had little to eat in Los Angeles the week of the fight.

"I still had my apartment but if something would've happened and the fight had been canceled, I would've been evicted six days later."

Continuing the Holo-video coverage for the 2009 West Hollywood Halloween Costume Carnival in West Hollywood, California. (One of the LARGEST & BEST Halloween block parties in the galaxy!) It was estimated that close to half a million people from all over the galaxy came to this event. (The event had laserlights, costume contests, and multiple concerts.)

(Warning: Some of the costumes can be quite explicit, so it's not for kids!)

This might be my most random video yet! Lol! But hey it's Halloween right? Yeah that's my excuse... Anyway yesterday was much fun. First I went to the Hello Kitty cafe and got some treats. Then I waited for night to come and decided to go TRICK OR TREATING with my friends! You are never too old to go trick or treating! Really? Yeah... Oh and I was Kuromi! One of my favorite SANRIO character of all time! I am wearing a Kigurumi (Pajama) from Japan. You get them at Donki! I just purchased the Kuromi Kigurumi last time I was in Tokyo for my tour! :) Anyway...

Then my friends and I went to Kappo Honda. If you wear your costume you get free beer or ice cream. Lol! And we are friends with all of the waiters & waitresses so it was extra fun! I actually just went to DLAND with all of them recently! Haaaa! So yeah it was fun to go and heckle them! Ha! So yeah you will see them make funny faces and stuff to the camera! And that is why.

And yeah then of course I had to throw in my spooky cat Luna who came to us on Friday the 13th a few years ago or so. She is good luck I swear she is! Okay that is all from me for now!
